Becoming a poor man's Arsenal..
Pass, pass, pass, little one two's, nutmegs, dummies, dragbacks and so on and so forth - right up to the goaline where we run out of space.

Clever football, but tippy tappy football - attractive even through the back and through midfield, but in the final 1/3rd we are very short of the cutting edge.

Murdered them without scoring in the 1st half, ran out of idea's in the 2nd - Billic, sadly, didn't have an alternative other than Carroll as a bulldozer - & that's never going to work consistently.

Crying out for a player like Song who can hold, create and play cleaver balls into the final 1/3rd's channels.

Why didn't he come on? Fuck knows.

We're gonna be a mid table side at best this year lads - relegation's not an issue, but we're stuck in mid table mediocrity.

We got found out and the brutish northern cunts came one battered us. It seems like same old same old and I hope that Billic will add more steel to the whole thing along with getting the ball back in the net.

Is that what SHOUTYHAMMER means when he keeps saying "Tick Tock"?

A poor mans Arsenal. Why would anyone think we would be anything more than that? The absolute shower we were served up last year I will take that all day long. Improvement takes time. Let time happen.

Sir Alf - good post and surely that's what a move with potential top 6 budget brings?

Sir Alf - good post.

Yes, I think they have and we will also become a significant investment opportunity when we move to the os. If we can't regularly break into the top 10 at this point in our history I don't think we ever will.

Re: Becoming a poor man's Arsenal..
We are where I thought we would be and a work in progress.

We are trying to play more of a passing game but currently lack depth and quality in the striking dept. We need a better right back and I think we still lack another "big man" in midfield. Kouyate and someone like Dembele would transform us. I am hoping Song will be that person. If so, it really comes down to the strikers for me. We need a couple ideally but lets face it they are the most expensive, most in demand players. To get a player that scores over 15 a season these days, most seasons and you lose them. We could do with a Lukaku (who couldn't) or maybe even a Benteke type who is not quite the same quality but nonetheless can get on the end of things, holds it up and above all else is mobile.

So this season my hope is we can get in the top 10 but will not be surprised if we are mid table between 10 and 14. Thats ok so long as we continue to build and the owners have to realise it takes millions, year on year to do that. We could take the Spurs lead and invest in young prospects but we need to have the foundations of a solid Prem team before doing that. This is a five year journey minimum with budgets of 50 million each year. Have the owners got the budget or commitment for that?

Don't worry too much about. It's not as if we're going to be relegated. Just enjoy the last season at the Boleyn.

My prediction is I don't know, which is probably why I asked the question to see what others are thinking.

Will be another tough one though.

Based on hope, expectation, league position and home advantage. Not necessarily in that order.

Coffee - Based on what?

We can't keep a clean sheet for love nor money, and the goals have dried up.

I'm not saying that we won't win, but no way can anyway confidently predict we will win that game.
